Pinterest Finds: Afternoon Tea

Afternoon tea is an absolute delight. There is so much to enjoy about it whether you are taking tea at Claridges or getting everyone together at home for family favourites.

Aside from tea, what is your essential afternoon tea feature? At the moment I’m partial to a french fancy!

Pinterest Finds: 2013 Calendars

I’ve missed researching my weekly Pinterest Finds! I really do find it an inspirational place and find my creativity surges after a good browse.

I stopped using a calendar years ago but after coming across these ideas I might have to make my own. What’s your calendar like?

Pinterest Finds: Autumn

Autumn might almost be over but as the pavements are covered with beautiful leaves I thought I would take one last shot at celebrating my favourite season. It’s been a while since my last Pinterest Finds so I hope it has been worth the wait!

I love London during Autumn, when the mornings are foggy and there are golden leaves on the ground. I love walking down the street with the cold air pinching my cheeks – there is no need for blusher in this weather! I like eating soup for lunch and dinner and painting my nails a deep, dark red. Getting the nice boots and a winter coat out of the wardrobe (or treating myself to something new). I love the scarves, drinking in front of the fire in a pub, baking homemade apple pies and cosy nights in with Midsummer Murders on the television.

What do you love most about Autumn?

Pinterest Finds: Burgundy

I’ve had a love affair with burgundy in the past so I am glad it is back in fashion with a passion for Autumn. Black, grey and the odd piece of burgundy – can you get any classier?

Couldn’t resist the final image – sorry!

Pinterest Finds: Jalapeños

An interesting Pinterest Finds for you this week, celebrating the humble jalapeño. I think you will be surprised about how many ways you can use them in food and drink to really give things a kick. For those that shy away from them… don’t. They really enhance flavours and operate quite differently to other spices. They also give you that fabulous heat which I can only otherwise find with Tequila!

Have you ever cooked with jalapeños? What is your favourite way of serving them?

Pinterest Finds: London 2012 Olympics

The 2012 Olympic Games have been more enjoyable than I could have imagined. I have lost so many hours watching incredible athletes fight for their dreams and it is has been a wonderful experience. So, in honour of the Games, here are some great Olympics pins I found on Pinterest this week.

Portraits of Woody Allen

Woody Allen is one of my favourites. I use ‘favourites’ loosely so that I can be deliberately vague, because after all he is one of my favourite actors, comedians, eccentrics, directors… man, that list could go on.

He had me with the poster for Manhattan. I was in school at the time and it adorned a wall in a classroom, and I found it delightfully enigmatic. I have a love affair with New York in film and literature  as it is, so by the time I got round to watching the film, he had me at ‘He adored New York City. He idolized it all out of proportion’.

That’s me. Idolizing and romanticizing a city I barely know way out of proportion.

Since watching Manhattan for the first time, a certain person in my life has subjected me to all manner of Allen films. There are some great ones, some bad ones and some truly odd ones. Midnight in Paris was beautiful. Vicky Christina Barcelona was sexy and fun. Annie Hall was pretty much my life for a little while. Everything you have always wanted to know about sex* (*but were afraid to ask) was… interesting, with some bits far funnier than others. Deconstructing Harry was a little peculiar. I was surprised to like Match Point. Whatever Works has become my catchphrase.

I love Woody Allen films. Yes, he is clearly a little odd. But the man makes great movies and sure as hell pulls an awesome pose out of the bag every single time he is caught on film. So below are a selection of portraits of the man himself – an icon to me and a feeder of my love of New York.

Pinterest Finds: 10 ways with green tea

A few days ago I went on a Pinterest binge and stumbled (enjoying my mixed social media metaphors?) across hundreds of ways to use green tea. My mind was totally blown.

Although I love green tea and drink many cups of it a day, I have never thought about cooking with it. Now I have, you can expect some green recipes soon. Let me know if you have tried making any of the following, and if there are any I should avoid!
